AWS Outposts Racks Support LagStatus CloudWatch Metric for Link Aggregation Group Monitoring

AWS has expanded its monitoring capabilities for AWS Outposts racks by introducing the LagStatus metric in Amazon CloudWatch. This metric is now available across all AWS commercial regions and the AWS GovCloud regions to track the health of Link Aggregation Groups. It specifically monitors the physical network connectivity components that link the Outpost to the local network infrastructure to ensure stable data transmission. The LagStatus metric offers granular visibility into whether the network interfaces within a LAG are functioning as expected. By monitoring this metric, engineers can identify partial connectivity issues or link failures that might lead to reduced bandwidth or increased latency. This proactive monitoring ensures that high-availability requirements for hybrid cloud workloads are consistently met through automated tracking. To utilize this feature, users can access the metric directly within the CloudWatch console under the Outposts namespace. Integration with CloudWatch Alarms allows for automated notifications or remediation actions whenever the connectivity status changes. This enhancement simplifies operational overhead for teams managing critical infrastructure in remote or on-premises locations without requiring custom scripts.
