AWS Elemental MediaLive Adds Frame-Accurate Pipeline Locking for Streams Without Timecodes

AWS Elemental MediaLive Adds Frame-Accurate Pipeline Locking for Streams Without Timecodes

AWS Elemental MediaLive has introduced Video Aligned Locking, a new capability designed to synchronize dual-channel video pipelines without requiring embedded timecodes from the input source. Previously, achieving frame-accurate pipeline locking required specialized upstream encoders capable of injecting precise timecodes, which increased infrastructure complexity and operational costs. With this update, MediaLive can align video frames directly by analyzing the incoming video structure. This ensures that downstream devices receive synchronized, redundant streams for seamless failovers, even when using standard source devices that lack timecode generation capabilities. This feature is particularly beneficial for live streaming deployments that prioritize high availability but operate on constrained budgets. Broadcasters can now implement reliable pipeline redundancy across standard internet delivery protocols without upgrading their physical contribution encoders.
